The Importance Of Balance In The Golf Swing
from:There are many things to be considered that make a good golf
game, fitness, good equipment, having a right grip and also a
good swing. But perhaps the most important aspects of the golf
swing is balance and posture. This is something that many
golfers seem to overview.
So, here are a few tips.
Whatever you do, try to relax! A tense body will definitely not be a strong
point in you favor and will only act to hinder your game. So,
take a few deep breaths, try to loosen up your neck a little
bit. Even if you have been told to, do not keep your head still.
It is ok to also have some movement of your head, and focusing
to keep your head still, will do you more harm than good. So
ignore any advice that says you should keep your head still. You
want to be relaxed, not tensed.
Once you took a good grip of the club, and addressed the ball with your heels, while keeping your
back straight, try to bend slightly at the hips. If you follow
this, your bottom should stick out a little bit, but this should
not be a problem. Now forward your weight on the balls of your
feet, while letting your arms swing freely. Whatever you do,
avoid tucking your chin into your chest. Now you should feel
totally relaxed and in good balance.
Let's not run a little test. Can you lift one foot off the ground without falling? It
means you haven't got your weight in a proper balance. Many
golfers stand with too much weight on their heels, and this
eventually leads to a tendency to swing from the inside to the
outside. How can you check if you have too much weight towards
your heels? If your knee caps directly above the balls of your
feet, then you've got the right position and stance. Take some
time to carefully examine it. If you acquired a good position,
with your weight equally balanced, your spine should angle away
from the target, very slightly.
Now that you have the right stance, you should try to keep it throughout the swing. So, try
to practice a few swings, by always keeping the club head
swinging in a single plane which runs parallel to the line to
your target. Having the proper balance this should not be
difficult, but if you are not, it may prove to be troublesome.
Trying to move into the backswing your weight will be
transferred having about seventy-five percent of your weight
fall back on your back foot, with the other twenty-five percent
on the front foot. So, practice your golf swing as often as
possible, but make sure you start off with the right posture and
balance, as no matter how much you practice, ignoring the advice
on how to keep a good balance, is never going to guarantee a
perfect swing.
If you are out of balance, your body will start re-balancing itself as soon as you move to your backswing. This will throw off your golf swing, as your distance to the ball
will be changed as this redirects your muscles away from the
golf swing to try and maintain balance. Cheers Jedd.
